SUTTON BANK BIKE TRACK resurfacing
resurfacing an all weather bike track Sutton Bank National Park Centre
The Brief
Set in scenic surroundings amongst the North York Moors National Park, a well-used and much-loved bike track has been attracting hundreds of mountain bike enthusiasts and off-road cycling enthusiasts each week.
Due to its use, however, a hardier track was needed to negate future maintenance issues, to ensure longevity.
The solution? SuperSport Track – a bespoke and sustainable product designed specifically for this application, and which is now being rolled out nationwide.
The Solution
When planning or constructing a bike track, it’s essential to consider factors such as proper drainage to prevent water pooling, regular maintenance, and all year-round safety.
Working in close collaboration with the company Bike Track, the team at Aggregate Industries drew on their in-house expertise to design and develop a unique and highly sustainable solution that would ensure that durability, safety and a consistently smooth surface material would bring smiles to the faces of many riders for years to come.
Based on a well proven Swiss specification, SuperSport Track is a 10mm dense asphalt material that has high binder richness modulus to enable effortless curve formation.
Using 10 percent recycled asphalt, its sustainable and hard-wearing durability offers a consistently smooth and speedy surface for high specification pump tracks and leisure circuits.
In total, 36 tonnes of SuperSport Track were laid to all the lanes on the track, which weave, curve and interlink to provide a stimulating ride.
Thanks to the expertise and collaborative work between Aggregate Industries and Bike Track, SuperSport Track is now being widely adopted and rolled out nationwide. All agree it truly is a SuperSport Track!
