Modern Slavery Statement

Aggregate Industries UK, is a member of the Holcim group, a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions. AIUK employs nearly 4,000 people across its quarries, manufacturing, and concrete operations; we recognise the significance of our role in combating modern slavery and human trafficking.

At Aggregate Industries, we are dedicated to protecting the human rights of everyone connected to our business. This includes our direct employees, those in our supply chain, and our contractors. We champion a world where freedom and equality are fundamental rights for all, regardless of their position or location.

Our commitment to responsible sourcing goes beyond mere compliance and is deeply integrated into our operations. We prioritise safe and sustainable work practices for everyone involved in our business and supply chain. By continuously assessing human rights risks and refining our policy frameworks and processes, we remain proactive in addressing issues related to human rights, modern slavery, and environmental sustainability.

This Modern Slavery Statement reflects our ongoing support for the objectives of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We actively engage with employees, suppliers, and stakeholders to understand and mitigate risks within our business and supply chain.

Our annual statement is available here.

Modern slavery is hidden in plain sight and is deeply intertwined with life in every corner of the world.

Each day, people are tricked, coerced, or forced into exploitative situations that they cannot refuse or leave. Each day, we buy the products or use the services they have been forced to make or offer without realising the hidden human cost.

An estimated 50 million people were living in modern slavery on any given day in 2021, an increase of 10 million people since 2016.

Walk Free’s flagship report, the Global Slavery Index (GSI) provides national estimates of modern slavery for 160 countries. Our estimates draw on thousands of interviews with survivors collected through nationally representative household surveys across 75 countries and our assessment of national-level vulnerability.

With the exception of contributions from external authors, the Global Slavery Index is produced by Walk Free. We are solely responsible for the contents of this report.

Responsible Sourcing in our supply chain

At Aggregate Industries, we are committed to responsible sourcing by considering the life cycle of products and services in our procurement practices. This approach ensures we evaluate the environmental, social, and economic impacts of our choices across all stages—from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal or reuse.
Our procurement decisions aim to:

  • Identify environmentally and socially responsible goods and services.
  • Partner with suppliers who demonstrate strong environmental policies and practices.
  • Minimize negative environmental impacts, including waste and pollution.
  • Consider total cost of ownership, including environmental disposal costs, delivery impacts, and sustainability of supply.

By embedding these principles into our procurement processes, we uphold the obligations of ISO 14001 and BES 6001, align with Holcim's sustainability goals, and promote sound environmental stewardship in all our operations.

High performance with high integrity is key to sustainable success. We believe that success in doing business goes hand-in-hand with adherence to competition law rules and acting with integrity.

Acting with integrity and competing fairly allows us to provide our customers with the best products at most favourable conditions. Fair competition also brings us to the forefront of innovation. We seek to ensure that our management and employees are well aware of the business practices to avoid and of the company’s commitment to free and fair competition.

Our policies include our fair competition statement, code of business conduct, H&S policy, tax strategy, procurement policy, collaborative business relationship policy, gender pay gap report, ethical trading policy, biodiversity policy, quality policy, sustainability policy, environment policy, transport plan, energy and greenhouse gas policy, corporate citizenship policy, disability confident employer, retirement benefits scheme and information security policy.
