Our apprenticeships
Our Higher Apprenticeship offers you a diverse and exciting experience within the construction industry. Over three years you will build the knowledge and skills required to develop a rewarding career in either an operational, commercial or office capacity. You’ll be working towards a foundation degree in Mineral Products Technology at the University of Derby, mixing academic study and practical hands on experience with a structured plan to develop you both personally and professionally.
This apprenticeship can progress onto a BSc (Hons) in Minerals Management.
Entry requirements
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- 2 A levels equating to 80 UCAS points (at least 1 in a STEM subject).

A four year Maintenance and Engineering Technician Apprenticeship has two pathways: Electrical and Mechanical. This apprenticeship will give apprentices an opportunity to train as either an Electrician or mechanical Fitter within Aggregate Industries. All practical training will be site based at one of our UK operational sites combined with attendance at Stephenson College, Coalville in Leicestershire for college block releases that takes place for two weeks every six weeks.
Through a well-structured training plan, the engineering apprentice will develop both practical and academic understanding and basic knowledge of engineering through their apprenticeship.
The engineering apprentices form an integral element of workforce succession planning and future business requirements across a number of divisions and up-skilling of organisational engineering capabilities.
Following successful completion of the maintenance and engineering technician apprenticeship, those demonstrating exceptional talent will be given the opportunity to continue their studies and achieve the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering.

Our Plant Operations Apprenticeships are delivered by Stafford College. Apprentices will work towards the Plant Maintenance and Operations Apprenticeship, learning how to operate various items of plant safely and efficiently, and to carry out basic maintenance and checks on Civil Engineering Plant or Construction Plant.
All practical training will be site based at our UK operational sites combined with attendance at Stafford College, in Staffordshire for college block releases that takes place for two weeks every six weeks.
Through a well-structured training plan, the Plant Operations apprentice will develop both practical and academic understanding and basic knowledge of Plant Operations through their apprenticeship.
The Plant Operations apprentices form an integral element of workforce succession planning and future business requirements across a number of divisions and up-skilling of organisational Plant Operations capabilities.

Our Mobile and Static Plant Apprenticeship programme will provide you with a structured approach to learning giving you the peace of mind that you will receive the highest quality training and experience allowing you to grow your skills, knowledge and understanding to progress within Aggregate Industries.
The main duties and tasks of mineral processing mobile and static plant operators are to operate either fixed or mobile heavy plant equipment efficiently and safely complying with current legislation, company policies and procedures.
You will be producing high quality products for a diverse range of end uses and related manufacture such as construction products, ready mixed concrete, mortar, asphalt, cement, precast or prestressed concrete products. Duties include carrying out preventative and routine maintenance inspections of equipment and housekeeping.
This apprenticeship in delivered on site by Mentor Training and includes a number of workshops and one to one sessions throughout the eighteen months.
